This site started the way a lot of good ideas do — with a conversation between friends about food.
Years ago, a group of friends gathered around the table, sharing family stories, treasured recipes, and memories of the people who taught us to cook. As we talked, we realized something was missing. There wasn’t a good place online where recipes, stories, and family traditions could truly come together.
Every recipe website we visited seemed buried under endless ads, pop-ups, and pages of filler before you could even find the recipe. We wanted something different—something simple, welcoming, and easy to use. A place where a grandmother could comfortably share her favorite recipe, and where passionate home cooks could discover recipes they could trust.
So we started planning. And planning. Had it all planed out then life got in the way, as it does — but the idea never went away for me.
What finally brought it to life was a simple decision: stop waiting and start building. The result is what you’re looking at now. A site designed from the ground up around one purpose — helping people find, share, and enjoy great recipes.
What makes this place different
A lot of family recipes aren’t meant for the whole internet. Some were earned through years of testing. Some are just special. Here, you control who sees your recipes. Share publicly, share with friends only, or keep your best ones secret — that choice is always yours.
What you’ll find here
- Recipes from home cooks, not content farms
- A place to preserve not only recipes, but also the family stories and experiences that make them special.
- Tools to scale recipes, convert measurements, and plan cooking
- A friends system so you can follow the cooks you trust
- Simple, clean design that gets out of the way

Where this is headed
I honestly don’t know.
I’d love to see people from all over the world sharing recipes with one another. Imagine someone in the United States trying a family recipe from France, England, Japan, Italy, or anywhere else in the world.
Food has a unique way of connecting people across cultures and generations.
If this website can help make those connections happen, then it will have accomplished exactly what I hoped it would.
Communities grow because people participate in them, and this website will only become what it can be if people like you choose to be part of it.
Together, we can build something truly special—a place where recipes, traditions, and memories are preserved for generations to come. With your help, Granny’s Secret Recipes can become the Internet’s favorite destination for discovering recipes, sharing family traditions, and a great place to pass down a recipes from one generation to the next.
The biggest thing you can do to help is sign up, and tell a friend and family. That’s what keeps this place alive — and what makes it worth building.
So pull up a chair, share a recipe, tell a story, and become part of the family

Dream big, expect nothing — and cook something great.
